Here we are at the start of another fall soccer season!! Thank you in advance for completing the following registration as we look forward to an awesome time out on the fields. 

We will again be looking to place as many kids on teams as possible. The earlier that registrations are completed, the easier it is to see how teams are forming and try to align and add players to make the best lineups we can.  PLEASE READ ALL OF THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION BELOW BEFORE REGISTERING!

Welcome to the 2024 Fall Soccer Registration!

This registration session will allow you to complete contact information, sign up for participation, and submit payment. Please read through each page carefully to ensure that all information is provided accurately. To complete registration through our secure site, please have your Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or checking account information available.  Following the completion of this registration, you will see a charge on your account from OVYL Sport Registration.

If you will be registering 3 or more children for soccer or across multiple sports, you are eligible for a $50 discount per child after the 2nd one. Due to restrictions created by Sports Engine, only one discount can be applied at check out. If you register during the early registration discount period, the multi child discount cannot be automatically applied and must be issued as a refund. Please contact Amy Ruhe at amyruhe@gmail.com to obtain your multi-child refund. If you are registering after the close of the early registration discount, contact Amy BEFORE completing the registration to get a discount code. Please include the names and sport of each registrant.

At the end of registration, SportsEngine will offer you registration insurance. OVYL has no control over this and receives no money from it. It is your decision on whether to purchase or not.

Soccer Information

Soccer Registration for players born in 2020 - 2012. If your player is NEW to travel ( 2016 birth year or older) please have a head shot photo and a copy of the player's birth certificate stored on your computer and ready to upload. This is required by RBJSL and EPYSA. You will be asked to upload it during registration. Players who are not new to travel, will NOT need to upload it again.

Soccer divisions are based on the birth year of the player, NOT grade.  This is determined by US Youth Soccer - not the youth league. Here is the chart showing birth year, division breakdown, and season costs.

***We again will do our best to field a u/13 team this year.  Any 7th grader with a 2012 birth year is welcome to still play (can attend games but practices will be optional for them since they will be playing MS during the week). I will be trying to combine with Fleetwood this year, however it may be any local team. Please sign up so that I can see how many players we have to field a team. I am hoping to keep our U/13 team at the YL this year since we do have more players. 

Registration costs are applied by the youth league in order to pay for operating and playing expenses, such as, but not limited to: Reading-Berks Junior Soccer League registration costs (or other leagues that are utilized by teams), Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer registration costs, US Youth Soccer dues, field costs (mowing, lining), referee fees, equipment costs and insurance.  These fees DO NOT cover any tournaments teams may attend.

Practices for our u6/8 age groups will begin in late August and will be on Monday/Wednesday from 6-7PM at the youth league. 

Practices for our u/9 and older groups will be either M/W or T/Th depending on the team and coach availability. Practices will begin mid-August. More information will be emailed to you once teams are determined. 

Our u/9 - u/12 age groups will have evaluations in early June (exact date TBD). Our league (Reading Berks Junior Soccer League) tiers within the age groups based on team skill level. Before the Fall 2022 season, OVYL never really had to worry about this since we only fielded one team in each age group. Within past few seasons our numbers exploded and we fielded multiple teams at multiple age groups - which is awesome! This also added the requirement of evaluations. Each age group has three tiers based on ability. Is it a perfect system? Of course not. However with the league having over 230 teams it would be impossible to try to schedule games with teams we may think would be on our kids skill level. Just because a child is on a higher tiered team does not mean they will always win games - it just means they will be playing equally skilled teams giving them the best chance to develop as a player. Also, as they get older they will all eventually end up on the same team as the number of field players and roster numbers increase. 

Not all age groups will require evaluations. Once I see how many players we have in each age group that will then determine if evaluations are required. 

Games for our U/9 and older teams will begin the weekend after Labor Day and end mid- November.  Games are on Saturday's (10AM and later) and/or Sunday's (1PM or later).

There are playoffs for Tier 1 teams only after the regular season is over if they qualify. 

We also will be scheduling a pre-season game on opening day (August 17) for each age group as we did last year. This will be a "warm-up" game and will not count in the regular season record. We also will complete in the Wilson Fall Classic over Columbus Day Weekend (October 12-13, 2024). The Wilson Fall Classic is an additional cost if children would like to participate.  

Our u6/8 teams will be given a jersey as part of their registration. For u/8 it is recommended that players also have black shorts and black socks as we will be trying to schedule games with other local u/8 teams. 

Our u/9 teams and above will be using the same uniform as we have been using for the past few seasons. If you do not need to purchase another uniform, you do not need to. New players will need to go to Sneaker Villa in Exeter to get fitted and pay for their uniforms which will about $55.  Long sleeve shirts and sweatshirts are also available to purchase, but not required. More information about ordering uniforms will be sent out after registration closes.
 

WE NEED COACHES TO RUN OUR PROGRAMS!!!! If we do not have them, we can not run them. All coaches are volunteers and any level of soccer experience is welcomed. If you are interested in coaching please start by having your PA State Police background check and PA Child Abuse check completed. 

For anyone coaching U/9 and older teams, US Soccer and EPYSA requires further online trainings and clearances to coach.
